The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Florida is committed to sea turtle education, research and rehabilitation, and hosts thousands of school children each year through field trips, outreach programs, summer camps and other educational experiences. The center includes a veterinary hospital, research lab, outdoor classroom, exhibit hall with live sea turtles and other coastal critters, and resource center. While visiting Florida beaches, we discovered the tracks of sea turtles that had come on shore during the night in search of the best nesting sites, then returned to the ocean after laying their eggs.
Volunteers mark the sea turtle nests to protect the eggs from beachgoers, and to monitor the incubation time.
