MY HAPPY EARTH author Melissa McCollum presented #NatureRocks to children visiting the Perot Museum with their teacher parents attending the Educator Family Fun Night on October 23, 2017.  Children of DFW area teachers explored the many museum exhibits, toured the “Journey to Space” traveling exhibition, and took home these nature rocks to hide for others to find.  As part of its mission to promote environmental awareness and action, to educate children about conservation and sustainability, and to encourage children to go outdoors and explore nature, Melissa gave children these hand-painted rocks to post a picture @myhappyearth and re-hide for others to find and re-hide (or find-your-own to paint and hide).

Loggerhead Marinelife Center

DCIM100GOPRO

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Florida is committed to sea turtle education, research and rehabilitation, and hosts thousands of school children each year through field trips, outreach programs, summer camps and other educational experiences.  The center includes a veterinary hospital, research lab, outdoor classroom, exhibit hall with live sea turtles and other coastal critters, and resource center.  My Happy Earth is excited to offer the MY HAPPY EARTH book in the Loggerhead Marinelife Center Gift Store as an addition to their unique selection of educational books, gifts, and artwork.

While visiting Florida beaches, we discovered the tracks of sea turtles that had come on shore during the night in search of the best nesting sites, then returned to the ocean after laying their eggs.

Volunteers mark the sea turtle nests to protect the eggs from beachgoers, and to monitor the incubation time.
